Removing the impossible, with the right tools and a never quit mentality.

Lowering parts of the floor 9m down to ground

80 tonner removes the front facing wall

as the first block leaves the lift room
At Rosebank we were tasked to work with engineers and project managers to do several renovation aspects to the old FNB bank in rosebank, we tackled some of the biggest tasks head first, such as cutting the vault walls which were over 900mm thick and riddled with steel reinforcement, from 35mm solid bars to a very unique steel reinforcement system that actually broke 2 bobcat hammers, never the less we mounted our machines and got to cutting.
our next tasks involved drilling opening in walls and floors for Hvac, we even had to cut walls in a specific manner to remove old support to replace it with new supports, allowing the building to support the new plans of additional floors. Then came the most enjoyable part and it was removing a double lift shaft 35m up in the air, bringing it down piece by piece, the photos do this project no justice, the teams at DCCS really worked tooth and nail, removing the lift shaft like a tetras block.
Challenges we faced on this project, were not many but the severity of the challenges went to extreme, from removing the lift shaft piece by piece with nothing to rig off, we had to look at a crane to remove, but at you can imagine getting a crane on a daily bases in and out of Rosebank provided its own fair share of headaches

A bit of size indication, Man vs Machine
